Job Description:

and empower teachers and students alike? If so, Amy Biehl High School, a highly innovative state charter school that prepares all students for college and post-secondary service and life, has an opening for a full time Science Instructor for the SY 26-27.

We offer a unique work environment with a positive staff culture anchored by nearly five weeks a year without students to plan, collaborate and learn with colleagues. We are looking for an educator that thrives in our collaborative, community-based setting, and believes all students can achieve. We are fully inclusive school. Specifically, we want someone who can rock at teaching Science but also has the capacity to differentiate materials when needed and support all students.

A New Mexico Secondary Science license is required.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • design relevant, rigorous, and engaging learning lessons for respective classes that align with the mission of preparation for college and career
  • provide inclusive instruction to accommodate for special education students or those with English Language development needs
  • teach 4 core classes each semester and one F or G block
  • design, create, and implement exhibitions in collaboration with appropriate colleagues, minimum of two times a year per grade level
  • lead an Advisory cohort of students through the four-year road to college and community at ABHS by assisting those students in their intellectual and social and emotional development, using the school’s activities provided by school and advisory teams.
  • facilitate the growth of a physically and emotionally safe school culture through activities in core content classrooms and Advisory
  • attending meetings such as content teams, staff meetings, community engagement and other relevant teams and satisfactorily fulfill assigned duties
  • actively participate in regular, scheduled professional development to improve student performance,
    instructional practice and any whole school needs
  • participate in management of students during time that they are out of class and on campus, such as
    through assigned weekly and daily duties
  • participate in service learning projects as required

Ed Fellow/ Educational Assistant

Amy Biehl High School is seeking an Ed Fellow/ Educational Assistant for Immediate Hire

If you have ever been interested in teaching and would like to learn more, the Ed Fellow position is the perfect program for you. 

Amy Biehl High School is seeking a full-time Ed Fellow/Educational Assistant to support individual students. Experience working with behavior intervention programs, cross-categorical classrooms, and/or community-based instruction preferred. Candidates  must be able to obtain a Level 3 NM K – 12 Educational Assistant License.

Job Description:

Amy Biehl High School (ABHS) prepares all students for post-secondary success and civic responsibility. Our staff members are indispensable in our efforts to realize this goal. Amy Biehl High School believes that with a supportive environment ALL students can succeed, regardless of background and economic circumstances. During their senior year, every ABHS student takes a minimum of two college courses at the University of New Mexico or Central New Mexico Community College while simultaneously engaging with adults in their community through service.

 


 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • New Mexico licensure; must hold or be able to obtain a Level 3, K-12 Educational Assistant License
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a Substitute License

 


 
Job responsibilities include:
  • Work with teachers and students to support student success in the regular or special education classrooms
  • Serve as a role model and learner in the classroom
  • Assisting in one-on-one and small group activities
  • Collaborate with teachers and support students in accessing the curriculum
  • Attending Special Education Team meetings
  • Planning with teachers to support curriculum accommodations
  • Support tutorials for students when needed
  • Assisting teacher and ancillary staff in implementing goals and objectives for each student
  • Assisting in management/re-direction of students who may be disruptive or combative
  • Assisting with supervision of students in the cafeteria, restrooms, and hallways
  • Participating in staff meetings, in-service training and, other school activities
  • Performing clerical duties for teachers
  • Performing substitute duties as assigned
  • Performing other duties as assigned
  • This position is a 40 hour workweek unless other arrangements are made
