ABHS Road to College

The Road to College offers a unique opportunity for students and their families to visualize their path to college. On Nov. 1st 300 students walked from Amy Biehl High School to CNM to learn about the programs offered and tour the campus.

The Road to College walk is the first step in ABHS’ mission of graduating college-bound scholars as it is the first time most of our freshmen and sophomore students have been on a college campus.

Every year to show their dedication to attending college, the students and staff of Amy Biehl High School in Albuquerque walked to either UNM or CNM. This year they walked to the main CNM campus where they heard former ABHS students talk about college and visited classrooms.

Though ABHS students face barriers to college – 49% come from economically disadvantaged households, 31% have special needs, 76% are minorities, and 30-70% are first-generation college-bound (depending on class) – they are succeeding! 95% of our graduates enroll directly into college and 864% persist in college after two years. This success is thanks to the many supports at ABHS made possible through our donors and community partners.

Our students may have made their literal walk to college this year, their “Road to College” is still ahead of them and we need your help! Donations support the ABHS Foundation and the many student-focused programs at ABHS. To make a donation, click here.

Thank you to Southwest Capital Bank for their support of the Road to College!
