<h4 style="text-align: left">Take an hour out of your week, meet some great young folks down the street, have some fascinating conversations with teenagers, share what you know. </h4> There’s a great experience waiting for you just down the street at 123 4th St. SW. We’ve got a bunch of well-behaved but enthusiastic high school students who want to discuss good books and issues of the day, get some one-on-three help with their math (they’ll be so grateful!), and find a mentor. It’s local, convenient, and fun. For one semester, you’ll be introduced to some of the next generation of Albuquerque young adults, 95% of whom are headed to college (and in fact, some are already taking college classes). You’ll get training, lots of support, and the satisfaction of helping young people on their way. Join our Literature Circles. Read and discuss books with insightful and enthusiastic students.   Literature Circles, including fiction and non-fiction texts, have been a valuable part of the Humanities curriculum and continue to provide opportunities for different generations to learn from each other. Volunteers will be interviewed by 2-3 students and provide feedback to each student on how well they do.   Contact: Michael Jasso, 468-0651, mjasso@amybiehlhighschool.org    Independent Science Projects, November – February, 2 weeks Do you have knowledge or experience in a science, technology, or engineering related field? Then your invited to mentor a small group of 3-5 students with their individual science project which is Amy Biehl’s version of a science and engineering fair.  The groups will be formed based on common themes or topics. Teams of 5 compete in a variety of activities including office chair racing, tricycle race, water cooler races, pc shot-put and much more. This fundraising event has been a huge success and we need your help to keep it going.
